Vouching & Trust

Trust is earned by vouching and showing up, not by a selfie or a resume. How new people join, the 30-day read-only window, and what the sentinel watches for.

Organizer Organizing updated Jun 27, 2026

Trust is the one currency the people who own everything can’t counterfeit. They can’t buy it, algorithm it, or subpoena it. It moves at human speed—built in break rooms and on loading docks, not through a verification badge. So RORBT grows the only way trust actually spreads: one vouch at a time.

How someone joins

VOUCHED IN by an existing member 30-DAY READ-ONLY probation FULL MEMBER merit shown vouch earn it SENTINEL spots flattery & fishing
The only entrance exam: vouched in, watched for thirty days, judged on whether you do the work—not on a pedigree.
  1. Vouched in. An existing member personally vouches for the new person. That member is staking their own standing—vouching is a real act, not a click.
  2. 30-day read-only. New members start in a probation window. They can see and learn, but they don’t yet hold roles or touch decisions. This isn’t suspicion for its own sake—it’s the time trust needs to become real.
  3. Full member. After the window, judged on one thing: did they show up and do the work? Not their pedigree, not their title. Merit, demonstrated.

What the sentinel watches for

Every Orbit has a sentinel role whose whole job is to watch the front door — not for the “wrong” kind of person, but for two specific behaviors that signal infiltration or bad faith:

  • Flattery. Someone working the room, telling everyone what they want to hear, trying to be liked instead of useful.
  • Fishing. Someone steering conversations toward names, locations, plans, and identities—collecting more than they contribute.

The sentinel rotates like every other role, so the watchful eye is never the same person for long. See Roles & Rotation.

Why no real names

You can know each other’s real names in person and never type them into a chat box. The system is built so the server is deaf — but the discipline has to be yours too. Trust the person across the table; don’t trust the database. A movement of people who know each other but never record each other is one the opposition cannot map.

They can infiltrate a platform. They cannot infiltrate a thousand quiet rooms where everyone was vouched in by someone who’s already got their back.
